This recording was made at home in our backyard in the early morning hours of 26 November, 2021, during a near-total (97%) lunar eclipse. A barred owl called several times from the trees on the opposite side of the yard; it was the only animal sound we heard. Meanwhile, branches and twigs snap on the freezing ground, creating a quick, snappy reflection off of the nearby house and screenhouse. These tiny reflections, usually unnoticed during the day, come across much clearer in the cold, undisturbed air.
